CHAIRMAN’S PROFILE

Sheikh Nasser bin Mohammed Al Hashar, an Omani national, is a renowned entrepreneur hailing from one of the most prominent business families in Oman. He has been extremely influential in the development of Oman over many years and in recognition of his services to the Sultanate, he was conferred with the Oman Civil Order “third class” in 1980 and “second class” in 2010 by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

He has developed a wealth of knowledge and has considerable experience in government at the highest level, having served as an advisor at the Diwan of Royal Court, Sultanate of Oman, in the rank of minister by Royal Decree. He has also served as the Deputy Chairman of the Tender Board and Chaired the Tender Committee for the Diwan and Muscat Municipality. Prior to that, he was Secretary-General, in the rank of Undersecretary, at the Minister’s Office of the Diwan of Royal Court.

During his illustrious career to date, Sheikh Nasser has also held several other high ranking positions, including: Chairman of the Technical Committee for the Study of Archeological Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman; Chairman of the Committee for Follow-up of Projects for the Repair of Infrastructures affected by Cyclones; Chairman of the Working Group for the Revision of the Constitution of the Municipal Councils; Chairman of the Joint Committee for Reviewing the Law at the Diwan and the Royal Court Affairs. Sheikh Nasser has also been the Chairman of the Committee for Therapeutic Services and Chairman of the Higher Council for Accountability at the Diwan of Royal Court.

Sheikh Nasser also has extensive diplomatic experience, having worked as a diplomat at the Embassies of the Sultanate of Oman in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Austria and the United Kingdom. This, combined with his Certificate in Diplomacy awarded by the University of Oxford, has enhanced his knowledge and experience of the international arena.

In the corporate sector, Sheikh Nasser has served as the Chairman of Oman & Emirates Investment Holding Company, was a Board Director of ONIC Holding Company and Board Director of Bank of Oman, Bahrain & Kuwait, in addition to various renowned and well-known commercial and business entities in the Sultanate of Oman.

Currently, Sheikh Nasser is the Chairman of Al Jazeera International Group and its subsidiaries and is a Board Director for a number of companies situated in the Sultanate of Oman.

His knowledge and experience, visionary thinking, business acumen and genuine social concern will enable Sheikh Nasser bin Mohammed Al Hashar to play a pivotal role in the future development of the Sultanate.
